What is a Business AI Assessment?

5 min read · EASY AI NZ

A Business AI Assessment is a structured look at how your business runs, ending in a written report of three ranked AI opportunities, each with a realistic New Zealand cost estimate and a recommendation on where to start.

It is not a demonstration of a tool, and it is not a general talk about where the technology is heading. It starts from your operation and works towards a small number of things you could actually do, in the order that makes sense for you.

The honest answer is sometimes that AI is not a priority for you yet. If that is true, the report says so.

Why it exists

Most business owners have the same problem with AI. There is clearly something to it, but the material that exists is either aimed at large companies with technology teams, written to sell a specific product, or too general to act on. Working out what applies to your business takes time that a person running an operation does not have.

The assessment closes that gap. Instead of reading about AI in the abstract, someone looks at your actual business and tells you where it fits, what it would cost, and whether it is worth doing at all. You get a decision you can make, rather than a topic you have to keep researching.

What it covers

The assessment looks at how your operation works day to day: where time is spent on tasks that repeat, how you communicate with customers, and which tools and systems you already run. That last point matters more than people expect. AI often connects to what you already use rather than replacing it, and that changes both the cost and the effort involved.

From that, the report identifies where AI could realistically create value in your specific business. Not every process is a candidate, and part of the job is being clear about which ones are not. A short list you can trust is more useful than a long list you cannot.

  • The everyday processes that run your business, and which of them repeat often enough to be worth automating.
  • Where information gets re-entered, chased, or lost between the tools you already use.
  • How much of your week goes to work that does not need a person, but currently has one.

How it works

After booking, you complete a short questionnaire, around ten minutes, covering how your business operates and where you feel the most friction. That shapes the conversation. The assessment itself is a 45-minute call focused on your situation. Within 48 hours you receive a written report you can keep, share with your team, and return to later.

IN THREE STEPS

  • Questionnaire. A short form after booking, about ten minutes, so the call starts with context.
  • The call. 45 focused minutes on how your business actually runs.
  • The report. Delivered within 48 hours, with three ranked opportunities and a first step.

What you get

The report ranks three AI opportunities by realistic impact. Each includes what it would cost to implement in New Zealand and what it would likely return, so you can weigh them rather than take them on faith. It also names a clear first step, because a ranked list is only useful if you know where to begin.

It is a document, not a meeting. You can act on it yourself, hand it to a staff member, or use it as the brief for an implementation partner. It is written to still make sense to you in three months, when the detail of the call has faded.

What it is not

It is not a sales call wearing a different name. A genuine outcome of an assessment is finding that AI is not a priority for your business right now, and if that is the honest answer, that is what the report says. It is also not a commitment to build anything. Plenty of people take the report, act on the first opportunity themselves, and never speak to us again. That is a fine result.

If you do want to go further, there is a path: a fuller roadmap and implementation for businesses ready to build. But the assessment stands on its own, and it is designed to be worth doing whether or not anything follows it.
